Barbershop



He could still picture Barbershop, an old timer, who pulled him off of a white boy he was punching and kicking in order to prove he had a value to the black gang leaders. “You want to prove yourself so God Damn badly than learn to read, and how not to be a killer,” Barbershop said, as he lifted Maurice off of his opponent and pushed him. One look at Barbershop’s’ eyes, scars, and grayed beard made Maurice crave more of his wisdom.
